Introuction Part II and Help

Hi again,
I forgot to post some of the links. I like mostly listening to music so some of the programs I enjoyed the most were DJ sets like Maschinen 2 and Maschinen 1

By the way, has anyone had any problems downloading the reading for tomorrow? I don't seem to able to download the pdf. If anyone has I'd really appreciate it if they could sent it to marianagurrola@gmail.com !

Thanks!

Hello! this is my intro assignment.

My name is Pablo Zequeira, I am a second year student at Eugene Lang College. I am currently undecided as to what I want to concentrate on as far as my major is concerned. My interest on the newschoolradio is due to the fact that I have been exposed to the radio station environment from a young age. my grandfather had been amongst the first radio personalities in post revolution Cuba, he brought music to the Cuban people through the radio for the first time after the Cuban revolution triumphs. Even so I have no experience in working with anything that has to do with a radio station, but it is something that interest me, mainly music and satirical voice acting, as I like to entertain. I can make most people with a sense of humor laugh a good percent of the time. In prior writing classes some of my professors have complimented  my writing as well as myself by letting me know I can make people laugh, not just in class but in my personal life as well, that does not mean I am a class clown. I try not to make a joke of serious things but I also do not like taking life too seriously as I believe there is enough violence in life and for the most part it is filled with sorrow and way too serious issues. I like creating, and I enjoy what I can conjure up with my imagination. As far as music is concerned I am open to almost all music including country and classical. The one type of music I cannot tolerate is gangster rap or even the more recent rap music, the older hip hop and rap music are the only kind I can listen to without making jokes. I can work in groups although I would rather concentrate on my own work for the most part in order to avoid any confusion, plus this helps me concentrate and create my own material. I am pretty original and I am open to criticism as long as it is helpful. Above all I hope to have a good time even if this is a college course. I look forward in meeting everyone that is partaking in such a fun, and entertaining  radio course.

feel free to add me on myspace.com/uncubano7
or on the facebook.

I'm Joseph Baruch Warren - have you heard of me?

I have started using a capital W when I write about my Work. I'm not actually THAT pretentious - yet... but I like to pretend. I like to make movies though I have only made a few little tiny ones, mostly for school. Over the last, eh, eight years, I have created or participated in the creation of several sound projects - sometimes tiptoeing around narrative, sometimes just funny, sometimes unapologetic radio theatre.
I want to be Ira Glass, Dean Olsher, and Jean Shepard, but I also want to be David Lynch. Over the years, my favorite radio programs have included the following:
The Next Big Thing
The Shadow
This American Life
Fair Game with Faith Salie
Radio Lab
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Wait, wait don't tell me
Whaddya Know with Michael Feldman
and Rachel Maddow's show on Air America.
I don't like Le Show or Prairie Home Companion all that much, but I listen every few weeks because I have a certain respect, even awe for the stubborn genius Harry Shearer and Garrison Keilor have shown, week after week, year after year, decade after decade.
I can't imagine that anyone will be interested in following the following links, but examples of my (W)ork (alongside endless crap) can be found at:

I'll try to consolidate some of the best stuff sometime soon and post it here.

Fuck.

My attempt at brevity has failed.

Love,
Joseph

oh, did I mention Wiretap? Jonathan Goldstein is amazing. If anyone can introduce me to him, or to Faith Salie, I would get all fanboy nerdy about it.
Hello all,

As you can see, I'm Mariana and this is my second term at the Media Studies MA. My previous academic background is a BA on Marketing and Advertising in London and year and a half of a communications degree in Mexico.
Before coming to NY I was living in Mexico City where i worked for three years in political communication for the Mexican President as Production Director and Federal Government advertising sub director.
What I have the most experience with is with managing and putting together projects, writing advertising and marketing the produced messages. In case it helps, I have experience recording as I recorded all women's voices for dummys and sometimes when the things got hectic I would not have time to wait for actors to record radios so I'd do it (although very few occasions!)
At WNSR I would like to contribute by tailoring a marketing plan and executing it to expand awareness within our target audience (the school!), try writing some short contributions for the news segment and would love to record so if you need a woman's voice count me in for try outs!
Although I still have many questions about the course, I hope they all clear up next class.
I think that's it for now.
See you friday!
